Change Your Habits, Change Your Life (and Your Sales)
If you want to change your life, start by changing your habits.
And if you want to improve your sales performance, the same rule applies.
After coaching hundreds of sellers over the past seven years, here’s what I’ve learned:
The biggest reason changing your habits drives sales is confidence.
When you keep your word to yourself…
When you move your body…
When you sleep well…
When you meditate…
When you start your day with intention…
…you feel better about yourself.
And when you feel better about yourself, you show up differently.
You handle hard tasks at work with more courage.
You take bigger swings.
You’re more present in front of customers.
You tap into conviction, and conviction is what buyers respond to.
Better habits create more confidence.
More confidence increases your influence and impact with customers
That’s why we spent four full months on habits inside the program.
Last week we wrapped up the Habits module during our live group coaching call, and at the end of the call I asked a few members to share their personal wins.
These were real changes from real people doing the work. I want to highlight them for you through the three categories that matter most: habits of the mind, habits of the body, and habits of the spirit.
Habits of the mind
Your mind is your internal operating system. When it’s calm, focused, and centered, everything in your life gets easier.
David Beckley has been doing a morning routine with meditation and a workout for nearly two years. It’s not a habit anymore, it’s who he is. He recently stepped into advanced meditation using Joe Dispenza’s “Box Meditation,” and he shared how it’s put him into a higher level of execution and clarity.
Rob O’Keefe went from never meditating at all to fully committing to Transcendental Meditation. He went through the formal training, uses the TM app, and meditates twice a day. He shared how much calmer and clearer he feels, even on something as simple as his morning walk.
These are habits of the mind, and they pay off all day long in sales conversations, follow-through, and decision-making.
Habits of the body
Your body is your energy source. If you don’t take care of it, nothing else works.
Falyn Coleman-Wright said her ideal morning routine would include a 20-minute walk. So she committed to a 30-day challenge to walk at least 20 minutes/day. As of last week she’s on day 21, and the most powerful part is not the walk itself. It’s who she is becoming:
“I’m proud that I’m a person who keeps my word to myself. I’m proud that I prioritize my health.”
That’s identity-level change.
Stephany already had a morning routine, but she realized her sleep wasn’t where she wanted it to be. After reviewing her data, she committed to building a stronger nighttime routine so she can show up more present, energized, and productive. Better sleep equals better days, and better days equal better performance.
Habits of the spirit
Your spirit is your purpose. Your why. Your fuel.
Ahiman has been in the program for nearly two years, and the habit that has changed him most is reading his mission statement every morning.
It reconnects him to what he’s building over each 12-week period and the bigger life he’s creating as a husband, father, and leader.
This spiritual clarity makes the hard days easier and the big goals more grounded.
