Fireside Chat with Bill Russell: How to Sell to CIO’s
How do you sell to CIO’s in 2024?
What’s top of mind for CIO’s right now?
What does a day in the life of a CIO look like?
These are some of the questions we addressed in this month’s Fireside Chat with Bill Russell, the former CIO for St. Joseph Health, a 16-hospital system valued at $6.5 billion.
Bill was a client of mine at Salesforce, and worked together on a project to enable social, mobile collaboration for 25,000 employees.
Bill now runs his own company Health Lyrics and is the Founder & Host of the “This Week in Health IT” podcast.
While I normally interview sales thought leaders on the Fireside Chat, this was a rare opportunity to hear directly from a customer, and get insights into what it’s like to be a CIO.
The episode was full of gold nuggets, and is a MUST LISTEN for any sellers who work with CIO’s.
Some of the top takeaways from the episode include:
1. What’s the difference between a vendor and a strategic partner?
2. How do CIO’s source their vendors and partners?
3. Why CIO’s aren’t thinking about you or your solution
4. Why it’s critical to understand budget cycles, and how CIO’s allocate budget
5. What to do when a CIO delegates you down to their team
And SO MUCH MORE!
Massive thanks for Bill for coming on the show and sharing your wisdom, insights, and stories with our community!
