How to balance work and family
If you work hard at your job you can make a great living.
If you work hard at home you can make a great life!
Here are some of the keys to success:
1. Just as you would prioritize scheduling meetings with clients, make sure you prioritize schedule time for your family.
Here’s what this looks like for me:
-Every day from 12-1 I have a “date lunch” with my wife
-Every Friday night we order a nice meal or go out to eat as a family
-I regularly schedule a date night with my wife (usually twice/month)
-We go on 3-4 family vacations/year and take lots of weekend getaways
2. Prioritizing time with your family will give you the energy and focus you need at work, as connection fuels us at the deepest level
3. Remember the Golden Rule of Time Management: The quality of time you spend at work will determine the quality and quantity of time you spend outside of work.
So when you are supposed to be working, work fully so you can be present and worry free with your family, rather than bringing home stress and guilt from having an unproductive day.
In today’s video, I share how to balance work life and family life with a guest appearance from my youngest son Luke.
