How to Create the Life of your Dreams working in sales
How do you create the life of your dreams working in sales?
It’s not easy, but it’s fairly simple.
You must live by this philosophy every day:
HARD NOW = EASY LATER
At 42 years old, I was able to retire from Corporate sales to run my coaching business full time.
I live 5 minutes from the beach and spend most Friday evenings watching the sunset and having a picnic with my family.
My wife doesn’t have to work and can spend quality time raising our two boys (6 and 2 years old).
We can travel wherever we want, whenever we want.
But here’s the thing many people may not tell you: I am only here today because I made sacrifices yesterday.
I spent 19 years in sales grinding, hustling, dealing with rejection, working for hard managers, losing big deals, and often working on blind faith that things would someday work out.
I missed quota 3 years in a row and nearly got fired.
I put so much emphasis on my sales performance that my mental health struggled and I battled unhealthy addictions, which nearly cost me my family.
But through thick and thin, I never gave up.
I persevered and stayed the course.
When I got knocked down, I got back up, learned from my mistakes, and came back stronger.
I was willing to do what others weren’t, so now I can do what others can’t.
I always operated from the philosophy: HARD NOW = EASY LATER.
And it has paid off, where now I can truly say I’m living the life of my dreams.
Sales is a relentless roller coaster that will leave you dizzy, tired, anxious, and battle-scarred year after year.
This is par for the course and comes with the industry.
If it was easy it wouldn’t pay so much and anybody could do it.
So hang in there and keep the faith!
NEVER give up!
The other major key is to continue to develop yourself and strive to get better each and every day.
If you just hustle without reflecting, refining, and optimizing what you are doing you will eventually reach a plateau without getting to that next level.
I’m living, walking proof that it will pay off if you stay the course and continue to develop yourself each and every year.
Committing to sales today will allow you to live your dream life tomorrow, even if you still don’t know what tomorrow looks like.
Oh yeah – and don’t forget to enjoy the journey along the way.
