How to Escape a Scarcity Mindset

From Scarcity to Abundance: The 4-Step Process to Thrive in Uncertain Times

Right now, I’m witnessing something I haven’t seen in years.

More fear.
More hesitation.
More skepticism.

And it’s not just in tech sales. It’s everywhere.

AI disruption headlines.
Economic uncertainty.
Geopolitical tension.
SaaSmageddon narratives.

All of it creates one thing: a scarcity mindset.

And scarcity is the single most harmful way to sell, lead, and live.

Because when you operate from fear, your energy changes. You become needy. You become attached. You start trying to convince instead of serve.

And buyers feel it instantly.

The paradox is simple:
The more you need the deal, the less likely you are to win it.
The more detached you are from outcomes, the greater likelihood of achieving them.

So the real question is not “How do I sell more?”
It’s “How do I move from scarcity to abundance?”

Here’s the exact four-step framework I use with my clients and in my own life.

Step 1: Calculate Your Runway

Almost all fear comes from worrying about something that hasn’t happened yet in the future.

When people say, “I’m scared about losing my job,” I ask a simple question:

How long could you actually survive financially if you had no income?

Then we calculate their “Runway.”

Your runway = Net worth ÷ Monthly expenses

This Include:
• Savings
• Investments
• Retirement accounts
• Home equity

When you do the math, most people realize they have far more breathing room than they thought.

I’ve seen sellers discover they have 5, 10, even 20 years of runway.

Does that mean you stop working? Of course not.

But it removes the panic.

Clarity reduces fear.
Fear reduction creates better decisions.
Better decisions create better results.

Step 2: Regulate Your Nervous System Daily

You cannot think clearly when your body is in survival mode.

Abundance is not just a mindset. It’s a physiological state.

Every day you need practices that calm your system:

• Meditation
• Prayer
• Exercise
• Breathwork
• Journaling
• Breaks and recovery

When your nervous system is regulated, you show up present, grounded, and confident.

And presence is one of the most powerful sales advantages you can have.

Step 3: Focus Only on What You Can Control

Fear thrives on things you cannot influence.

News cycles.
Market predictions.
Politics.
Industry rumors.

Consuming this constantly creates anxiety without action.

Instead, shift your attention to creation.

In sales, you have only two jobs:

  1. Create pipeline
  2. Advance pipeline

That’s it. When you focus on revenue-generating activities and trust the process, you reclaim your power.

Abundance comes from action, not information overload.

Step 4: Level Up to Match the New Environment

The market has changed. The bar is higher.

What got you here will not get you where you want to go.

Thriving in the age of AI requires three upgrades:

Mindset: Staying calm, focused, and resilient

Habits: Mastering your time, energy, and focus.

Strategic Selling Skills:  Deep discovery, Multithreading, Executive conversations, Business cases, Storytelling, and Project management

These skills are not optional anymore. Growth requires becoming a new version of yourself. And the fastest way to do that is with support, mentorship, and accountability. If you need help in any or all of these areas, you can book a free strategy call with my team.

The Big Truth

When you stop obsessing over the numbers and start focusing on service, the numbers follow.

Every time.

Abundance is not pretending everything is perfect.
t’s choosing to operate from trust instead of fear.

Trust in your preparation.
Trust in your process.
Trust in God.

And when you do, your energy changes.
Your conversations change.
Your results change.

If you want to win in this environment, start by watching this video.

Because the future belongs to the sellers who can stay calm while everyone else panics.
