How to Live without Regrets
On December 28th, 2018 I got stuck upside down on a roller coaster, hanging 180 feet high for 30 minutes.
I thought I was going to die, and was full of regret.
That morning I had listened to a podcast featuring Bronnie Ware, author of “The 5 regrets of the Dying.”
These are the top 5 regrets:
1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
2. I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.
3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.
4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.
Naturally I was thinking about all the things I would regret if I died then.
By far, my biggest regret was that I hadn’t done anything meaningful with my life.
I had been selfish, focusing my entire life around career success and making money.
Rather than making an impact and serving others.
On that day, I prayed with all my heart.
I promised God that if I could just get off the ride safely, I would use my life to serve others.
I promised to start now and stop waiting.
In that moment, the ride took off and my life has never been the same.
A lot has happened since.
I started posting videos to serve others.
I started a coaching business.
I left Salesforce and founded Untap Your Sales Potential.
I faced my demons and got sober.
I prioritized my marriage and family above my job.
I became a Christian.
I ran two marathons.
Most importantly, I stopped waiting to pursue my dreams.
If I died tomorrow, I would not have any regrets.
Because I gave it my all and made the changes I needed to in order to become the man that God, my family, and the world needs me to be.
It’s amazing the magic that happens when you stop waiting and decide to go ALL IN on yourself.
In today’s video, I share how to live a life without regrets.
