The Power of Visualization
“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve” – Napoleon Hill
I will never forget the date: January 31st, 2017.
It was around 11pm, and I had a pulsing migraine.
Because I just missed my quota for the third straight year.
I had done everything in my power to hit it, but still came up short.
95% of plan to be exact.
I had changed teams and moved to commercial to give myself more at bats.
I had changed managers thinking I could get more support elsewhere.
I was in a new territory, on a great team with an incredible leader, had worked my ass off, and STILL missed it.
I looked in the mirror, head pulsing, and felt defeated.
In that moment, I made a decision which would change myself forever.
I told myself that I would never go through that again.
I decided I would do WHATEVER IT TAKES to be the best sales professional I could be.
Since I clearly didn’t have the answers, I turned to others to get help.
I paid $20,000 to join a sales mastermind.
I hired a sales coach.
I reached out to the #1 AE in my division and set up a bi-weekly mentorship call.
One of the first exercises I went through in my Sales Mastermind was an intense visualization meditation.
I visualized what success would look like in great detail.
I SAW and FELT success in my mind before I had actually “achieved” it in reality.
I imagined all the people who I could help, including my family, my customers, my colleagues, and leadership.
I saw myself selling 4M, which was more than double what I had ever sold.
I imagined buying my dream home for my family, which was way more than I could “afford” at the time.
I visualized my wife tending to our garden in our dream home.
I felt immense joy and fulfillment, knowing that I was living up to my true potential.
Nearly five years later, everything that I visualized in that moment has come true.
Visualization is knowing exactly what you want in great detail, and seeing success in your mind before you achieve it in reality.
Visualization, combined with belief, patience, sweat, focus, and daily execution, is a powerful combination which can get you nearly anything you desire.
In today’s video, I break down how I’ve used visualization to accomplish some of my most ambitious goals and dreams.
